I believe that a good evening/night time routine is essential for helping you decompress and end off your day, especially if you are stressed out and have a million different things running through your head (hello woman everywhere!!).
So here are some of the things you can incorporate into your evening routine:
Tidy up and prep for the next day:
Before we get to relaxing and decompressing, tidying up your space and knocking your chaos off the list should be first on the list so you don’t have to bother with these things once you are relaxed. Pack your bag and do your to-do list for the next day while you at it so you won’t be running to do lists in your head for the next day all evening and you are ahead on productivity for the next day.
Do a little pampering:
Treat yourself for surviving yet another day, whether a reward or pick me up this can be as small as exfoliating, spending a little extra time on your skincare routine, rubbing yourself out with coconut oil or going all out and enjoying a pamper evening. Just do a little something to end your evening on a good note.
Bye, bye coffee:
I am all for drinking coffee in the morning but try cutting back on caffeinated drinks as the day progress and towards the end of the evening stick to a nice night time tea, water or warm milk with cinnamon.
Yes, girl bosses step away from the laptop and cell phone. We spend most of our day on our phones or laptops so the last hour before you go to bed try to steer clear of technology OR for the very least use a blue light filter. I personally go as far as sleeping with airplane mode on my phone, no interruptions, thank you.
Get out of your own head:
So for some meditation or yoga works in the evening.. for me, it is too quiet and my mind goes back to lists and almost every time I end up a lot more stressed than when I first started. So yes, meditation and yoga is fab in the evenings if you need to de-stress and that works for you or if you are like me listen to some music, listen to an audiobook, read or journal.. everyone has different ways of getting out of their own head, do what you need to do to give yourself a moment of mental peace.
Use your senses:
Dim lights, lavender smells and soft pj’s is the perfect way to settle in before bed, need I say more?
Try starting your evening routine at the same time every night as well as unplugging, going to sleep and waking up. This allows your body to adjust to this routine and makes going to bed and waking up a lot easier.
I hope this inspires you to create and follow an evening routine and if you have, please share your tips and tricks with us.
Until next time my lovelies, xo.
